This treatment uses your own body's repair mechanisms and growth factors to promote healing. This is neither a research study nor clinical trial. Stem cell therapy is a treatment our physicians use and can be successful for the right candidates. During the procedure, the physician extracts stem cells from the bone marrow in a patient's hip. The stem cells are then injected into the patient's damaged joint or tendons/ligaments. The stem cells are from the patient's own body so the risk of rejection is very low.
Stem Cell Therapy can repair tissue that is too damaged to heal on its own. Stem Cells can stimulate the formation of cartilage, tendon, ligaments, bone, and fibrous connective tissues. Stem Cells are obtained from either the patient's own tissue or a purified embryonic source. These concentrated stem cells are then injected into the patient's damaged tendon or joint. The two main stem cell treatments that are being performed are obtaining Mesenchymal Adult Stem Cells from bone marrow or fat cells (Adipose). Some physicians use a combination of PRP and Stem Cell Therapy. Our practice uses a sterile closed surgical process to obtain the stem cells. Once obtained, the cells are isolated with a specialized centrifuge and then injected into the painful area on the same day using special imaging to make sure the cells are placed exactly where they are needed.
